Anyone a little concerned yet about the negative health effects of the toxins and chemicals we are exposed to in our environment on a daily basis? If not, you may want to be.

This is especially true if you are parents, as children are even more susceptible to the detrimental effects. The good news is that concern can lead to learning more about a topic and choosing empowering actions.

Smart Action One- Keep Using Your Essential Oils!

Essential oils can be a safe alternative to toxic smells, perfumes, and personal care. I discussed this in more detail in my blogs on using essential oils in infants, children, and for pregnancy. Replacing products with essential oils can save your face, literally.

According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG):

A personal care product use survey of more than 2,300 people, conducted by EWG and a coalition of public interest and environmental health organizations, shows that the average adult uses 9 personal care products each day, with 126 unique chemical ingredients. More than a quarter of all women and one of every 100 men use at least 15 products daily.

Yikes!! Better not slather all those unhealthy chemicals all over your body if you don’t have to!! Good thing we have our essential oils. (You can see here if you need more facts vs. myths about the “safety” of many chemically-laden consumer products.)

And…

For those who are extra sensitive, you may want to stick with the simple DIY recipes. I personally love the combination of 1 drop manuka oil with 1 drop geranium diluted in coconut oil in the AM and I replace myrrh for the geranium in the PM. Your honey may not be crazy about the smell of manuka, but my skin has improved greatly since using it. (It kind of smells like a mix of dirty feet and a resin tree, just being honest.)

I’m all about easy so, I honestly just grab a few fingertip fulls of coconut oil and spread it on at night. In the day, I use a lot less oil, due to the shine factor, and just rub the outer edges for residual oil around the bottle. The little bit of oil that shine through makes make-up application a breeze!! (Oh, you can check out my database to learn more about these oils…more to come on manuka.)

Okay, enough about my dirty-feet-smelling face.
