Hooray! The Health Transformation is Here
I have really exciting news!
The essential oils’ health revolution is accelerating at an incredible rate!
This amazing movement is converting fear into freedom for greater health empowerment.
As a result, big changes are coming.
This blog will be highlighting all these incredible shifts in the world regarding essential oils.
First, I’ll briefly review where aromatherapy originated, then discuss where it is today. Finally, I’ll explain the transformation that is occurring.
The Growth of Essential Oils
The rise in the popularity of essential oils is apparent. It’s worldwide market value was estimated to be 27 billion dollars in 2022 and it continues to increase. According to Statisa, Europe has the largest share of the global essential oils market. The Asia Pacific region and North America tie for second place.
Perhaps this excitement for essential oils is because they offer a holistic merger between the mind, body, and spirit. This is a synergy often not found in conventional medicine and what many are craving. Essential oils provide a bridge that unites traditional wisdom and modern medicine.
Ancient Wisdom and The Origins of Aromatherapy
Since ancient times, the healing and spiritual properties of aromatics and essential oils were revered. In fact, there are hundreds of Biblical references on using crude extractions of herbs and oils for cleansing, purifying, and restoring the mind and body. Furthermore, India, Persia and Egypt all have a long history of employing odorous compounds for these same purposes.
The official birth of aromatherapy is estimated to be between 6,000-3,500 years ago. Although the technology that allows for the concentrated and precise distillation of essential oils were not available at that time, there is evidence that rudimentary techniques for isolating the fragrant and volatile components did exist. The first attempts to capture aromatics were believed to be by the alchemists and the Arabs. The latter were noted to extract oils by infusion through elementary distillation that used ethyl alcohol from fermented sugar. This solvent was believed to retain the essential oils in place of the fatty oils of the plants.
As time moved on, the ability to seize these delicate compounds has been transformed, perfected, distributed, and marketed by various companies. It has also been taught to individuals by various experts in aromatherapy schools. As a result of the greater availability of knowledge and the access to quality essential oils, the clinical use of aromatherapy and therapeutic applications of them have become more mainstream.
What is so beautiful to me is that consumers and practitioners are participating, at this very moment, in the process of bridging traditional wisdom with current science.
Unfortunately, there are still many schisms that exist about how to safely practice aromatherapy and use essential oils. What most consumers and researchers can agree on, however, is that they are much more than fragrances that relax us.
Yet, in this age of an information epidemic, education on their safe, reliable use can be hard to decipher. Still, it is crucial.
The Essential Oil Revolution
I found The Essential Oil Revolution podcast only a few months ago and have been obsessed with it ever since. I was thrilled to find a resource that is jam-packed with trustworthy experts. These include certified aromatherapists, physicians, holistic practitioners, and experienced users. The show is a perfect blend of honoring essential oils’ “roots” while discussing the latest research. It is also empowering, entertaining, and accessible to all lovers of essential oils, across brands, aromatherapy schools, and clinical applications.
As a result, this podcast has quickly become a go-to spot for me to learn more about essential oils and to pick up some clinical tips to use with my clients.
Recently, I had the honor of chatting with the host of one of Feedspot’s “Top Aromatherapy Podcasts”. I was thrilled to be on the show and share on the topic of clinical applications of essential oils.
Yet, at the end of the interview, I was told some devasting news.
I was dumbfounded when the creator and then host, Samantha Lee Wright, informed me I would be the last guest on the show!
What!?
The Transformation of the Essential Oils Revolution
Sam explained to me that she had just been given the opportunity for her to take her dream position. Although she tried, she couldn’t find a host for the show that she had poured her heart and soul into since 2015.
I couldn’t accept this. It was time to be bold.
Was there a way that I could help to keep this invaluable resource available?
This question was not just for Sam, but for everyone who is benefiting from her creation!
To make a long story short, there was.
