The Freshness of Spring

It has been a long winter, hasn’t it!? Maybe not for our tropical and Southern friends, but definitely for us New Englanders! You could almost hear the collective sigh of relief when the calendar marked “day one of spring” in the state of New York.

Soon, windows will burst open and sunlight will beam in our homes brightening our days. Ahhhh….

Unfortunately, these cheerful rays will also highlight the accumulated dust bunnies that were hidden by the winter darkness. It won’t be long before everyone will be reaching for their buckets and brooms!

You know what that means?

Spring cleaning is here!

Embrace a Healthier Clean

Many of my friends and family will confirm the fact that I’m a bit of a “neat freak.”

Okay, maybe “a lot of a neat freak.”

Okay, okay….

I’ll admit it…

My Thieves Cleaner and I travel together. Its contents can be found placed snuggly in my carry-on and poured into the airport-friendly 2 oz. spray containers. (A great way to freshen the hotel bedding!)

Therefore, I’ve never been too busy with “Spring Cleaning” in my home. I enjoy my green-cleaning products throughout the whole year. It is a bonus that spring allows others to join me in my appreciation of vacuuming, dusting, and sweeping.

I also love the idea of cleansing the body, mind, and spirit at the beginning of a new blooming and beautiful season. Springtime is the most popular time to see all the ads about “cleansing, detoxing, and resetting.”

It makes sense.

Many like the idea of ridding their bodies of the unhealthy rich foods and holiday treats that accumulated in their bodies during the colder and festive seasons. Others are dreaming of the sunny beach and hoping a healthier diet may produce some “fat-flushing” for their new swimsuit.

Regardless, essential oils offer a gentle and holistic means to support our bodies in the process of eliminating unhealthy byproducts that lay dormant in our bodies. They also have the additive benefits of supporting a more balanced appetite and metabolic state. These are some of the reasons why fellow “health nuts” and I can be found adding them to our smoothies to enhance the benefits of a nutrient-infused power-based breakfast. (Read more here.)

This blog offers some more ways to use essential oils for our springtime cleanup!

It features some popular and some often-overlooked support to help us fully “embrace our neat freak from the inside-out!”

Starting with the Outside:

1. Wipe away unwanted dirt and grunge using Thieves cleaner and its companion spray bottle.

By using essential oils to support and protect our body from unwanted exposures and choosing greener products infused with them, such as this popular cleaner, helps us to cleanse our surroundings safely while enhancing our immune system!! Win-win.

Thieves Cleaner contains all the benefits of the famous Thieves oil, which you can read about here. Partnered with its glass bottle companion, you’ve got a BPA free alternative to prevent hormonal havoc from this plastic endocrine disruptor.

Speaking of hormones….

Moving to the Inside- Out:

2. Cleanse your body of stress and balance hormones with one of my “favorite sleeper blends.”

This oil blend contains clary sage. Clary sage has been shown in a small study with women to modulate thyroid health, cortisol (a stress hormone), and effect neurotransmitter balance. No worries, men! It has not been found to be “estrogenic,” but more of a hormone modulator.

After years of exposure to estrogen mimickers from toxic cleaning and personal care products, a little hormonal balance while cleaning is due!!

Add to this the calming presence of lavender and jasmine to further balance the body, brain, and mind.

It’s a great blend to diffuse during your day of sprucing the homestead.

(Here’s the link to one of my favorite blends which you can order here.)

3. After your through cleaning and you’re hanging up your rag, keep your home free of pests and boost your body’s immune and lung support by diffusing Tea Tree oil. You can learn more about the benefits of diffusing here.

4. Next, take a break to balance your mind and body with the fresh scent of tangerine oil. Tangerine oil is high in limonene, which has been shown to be beneficial for healthy immune function, cellular growth, and blood lipids. Furthermore, citrus smells are famous for enhancing mood and in balancing the neuroendocrine system (nervous-hormonal system connection)! They are also great for preventing unwanted critters from making homes in our house and body.

Therefore, put it in your diffuser and rub a drop on your feetsies after a hard days work.

5. Finally, when its time to time to retire in the evening, inhale the scent of your favorite oil or blend with the intention to enhance your strengths and release patterns that held you back this winter. Read about various oils on my database.

Although these oil combos may not be first on the “popular” list, they are perfect and just what the “oils order” should be this month!! Springtime just may make them more sought after.

Heck, after using this combo, you may get more popular yourself. ? Enjoy Kristen’s take on the power of boosting popularity here.

Happy oily and spring cleaning everyone!
