The Sacred Pause
Hello Dear Friends.
If you are watching this when it is released, we are on the cusp of Christmas and many holy and seasonal celebrations. The busyness of the holiday rush is starting to wrap up and many are now looking forward to taking a well-deserved pause.
So, for our clinical tip this week, I want to share with you a Christmas wish and blessing. It encompasses one of most important healing concepts of them all. I’ll also highlight an aromatic scent to help you kindle the Christmas spirit.
As always, all the links to the articles, research, and references will be posted at the end of the accompanying video blog and transcript.
So, let’s get started.
My Christmas Wish and Blessing: There is a Santa Clause and Love Really is Medicine
Pew Research states that Christmas is celebrated by nine out of ten Americans and 96% of Christians. Furthermore, 81% of those who are not Christian celebrate Christmas as a cultural holiday.
In my article on Saratoga.com, I discuss the meaning of Christmas as love and why this holy celebration turned secular can be quite beautiful. Let me explain more:
Christmas represents a celebration of a gift of love to the world through the innocence of a child. This goes deeper than a specific belief and can provide healing to us all. Furthermore, the selfless giving based on the spirit of a saint (“Santa Claus”) on this same night demonstrates the powerful medicine of gratitude.
I am not going to be Pollyanna about the fact that holidays can be triggers and times of sadness for some. However, on this day, I hope your heart will open along with your mind as we explore what I believe is the true meaning of Christmas.
Regardless of belief or faith, any religious holiday is a time of reflection and devotion. What they have in common is a unification of a community. Christmas can bring an opportunity to pause and allow the spirit of love to act like medicine coursing through our veins.
Yes, love is medicine. And, yes, I stand before you and say, I do believe in the spirit of Santa Clause. I’ve seen this in the service and the selfless humanity reflected throughout the year, in so many different individuals.
As humankind continues to fight and declare war on the body and each other, I propose we may all be arguing for the wrong method of attaining health. Rather than aiming to attack and live in fear, we could be moving toward love. In fact, there’s evidence that love may be key for our survival. Love exerts such a powerful effect on the body, some can become “addicted” to it!
I don’t proclaim to be a sociologist or a politician, nor do I have authority on how best to address the world’s disagreements and societal divisions.
What I can talk about is science and biology. Using the mind to find the solution to problems of the body, through this language of love, is the spirit that called many healers and doctors to practice their medicine.
My wish for you is that you become addicted to loving yourself and taking such good of yourself that you exude love to others and spread it outward.
I send you many blessings, joy, and abundance on this beautiful day reflecting love and peace.
The Scent of Christmas: A Holiday Essential Oils Blend
Now, I will share with you my favorite Christmas essential oil blend that can provide a physical, emotional, and spiritual boost.
This holiday scent is a comforting combination of cinnamon, orange, and black spruce. The blended aroma is reminiscent of winter holidays and evokes memories of joy, happiness, comfort, and security.
Diffusing this mixture of aromatics can kindle the Christmas Spirit for you and your guests to enjoy during this special time and all year-round. It also multitasks to shield you and your loved ones from infectious, unwelcome “buggy” winter visitors.
Since Christmas is love, having this scent diffusing in your home is a generous gift from Mother Nature for you and your friends and family to receive.
Wrapping Up the Seasonal Gifts and Blessings
The holidays are a beautiful time of year, especially if we allow ourselves to pause and bask in what they represent. By taking time to connect with those who care about and re-connect with our inner truths and values, we can harness the healing power of love.
This is one of the most powerful healing forces of them all.
Nature can help us to come into a state of receiving the goodness it offers by calming our minds and bodies and uplifting our soul with her aromatic scents. We can harness this with essential oils.
I am so grateful and honored to have you in my community and I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a Happy Love Day.
