Reproductive Health, Infertility, and Emotional Impacts

Last week, I discussed reproductive health and its effect on relationships from the male perspective. I highlighted the factors that impacted male libido, fertility, and hormonal balance and how to support them using essential oils and lifestyle medicine. Unfortunately, infertility affects 10-12 percent of couples.

Essential oils can be part of a preventative approach to address one risk factor for infertility stemming from both men and women, exposure to environmental chemicals. These detrimental substances have been linked to reproductive issues in both genders. For men, sperm quality is a major determinant of fertility and toxins have been associated with poor sperm motility, shape, and decreased numbers.

Implementing safer, greener products with essential oils is a powerful way to avoid unnecessary chemicals. These essential oils-infused cleaning supplies not only protect our family, and family members-to-be, from harm, they also keep our homes spotless and have health-promoting, mood regulating, and hormonal modulating secondary metabolites.

When couples cannot conceive as expected, it can have devastating effects on emotional well-being. As we learned from this week’s blog, which focused on the power of belief and positive emotions, these negative mindsets can have profound impacts on health outcomes and desired results. Often times, moms-to-be and their partners can lose hope and optimism if they have tried to bring a child into the world and haven’t succeeded. This disbelief can create a negative expectation and trump any other supportive measure.

I want to invite all parents-to-be to welcome in more belief into their lives.

This month, I’d like to highlight a blend of oils that provides a holistic means of support for optimizing fertility.

It is important to have hope and belief for supporting any desire, whether it be for a new bundle of joy, or something else your heart fancies, so this oil is really for everyone!

Now, let’s look at the blend for keeping the faith.

Belief and Hope in a Bottle

During the season of gratitude, I highlighted the evidence that essential oils blends that are labeled for emotional support are very legit. You can read about that here.

Essential oils are a final support tool to combine with a cleaner home from using green products, spring fever, and the fertility of new beginnings.

Below is an example of a blend of essential oils and their benefits are listed.

  • Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet almond) oil

Almond oil is a carrier oil that has support for healthy skin and a low toxicity profile.

  • Melissa officinalis† (Melissa) leaf oil

Also known as lemon balm, melissa oil has a variety of properties that may support better mood. As evidence in petri dishes and rodents, this oil has benefits that include protecting against oxidative stress, inhibiting unwanted microbes and viruses, supporting healthy lipid levels, and modulating inflammatory pathways. (source, source, source, source, source, source, source).

Melissa oil was shown in one study to prevent agitation in dementia patients, although other interacting factors with dementia are at play. Melissa was shown to assist with blood sugar levels  in rodents, we all know how hangry effects emotions!

  • Juniperus osteosperma† (Juniper) oil

Juniper oil has been shown to alter brain activity and is calming. It may also promote the health of the urinary system. Healthy urinary tracts support healthy reproduction!

Myrrh oil is high in sesquiterpenes, which modulate the brain and are neuroprotective. These constituents also cross the blood brain barrier, work to calm irritation in the tissue, inhibits microbes, and much more.

This conifer oil has many healing properties, for Hope™. The grounding phytoncides of fir trees can support immune health and balance the stress response.

I hope you can use this information and an emotional oil blend to better impact your emotions, physical health, and relationships!

Next week, I’ll do a write-up on how essential oils, in general, can bring about a welcoming emotional experience. I will also review the mind-body-oil connection on relationships that was discussed in the video. Finally, I’ll share one of the most powerful ways to spread the emotion of hope.

Now, I want to hear from you.

What are your favorite emotional-oils connections?

Many blessings from my heart to yours!
