My Seedling Product Obsession Revealed: Part I

Within my series for a healthier body and a safer world, I’ve offered various suggestions for you and your loved ones to implement in order to escape from the negative effects of detrimental environmental exposures.

Recently, I introduced you to one of my favorites- Seedlings!

The more I learn and experience these products for myself, the more impressed I become. Young Living has truly provided parents with the premier, most innovative, and all-natural options available for their infants!

I am excited and grateful to have such trustworthy and safe choices for our beautiful babies, children, and their parents who love them!

This is for a few very important reasons:

Why I’m Elated to Introduce You to Seedlings

(1) The ingredients in Seedlings will protect us from harm as they encourage our wellness.

All items contain non-toxic, chemical-free, plant-based, and essential-oils-infused ingredients. They provide an alternative to adding to the chemical bombardment that developing bodies are especially vulnerable to. Furthermore, they contain ingredients that have health-promoting benefits. (See below.)

(2) They are a step to a more sustainable and secure world for our children’s future.

When grownups choose to purchase Seedlings, their children see that they have purchased their products from a company that values health, our planet, our country, and our world. Therefore, parents exemplify the importance of accountability for what they invest in.

Kids see that their role models follow their words with action.

Guardians can literally begin to “sow the seeds” for a new generation of “oily children” who will also value and accept responsibility for a more sustainable and flourishing world.

(3) They are of the uppermost purity and quality.

The Young Living Seed-to-Seal process upholds the highest standards and integrity for the science of essential oils, the sourcing, and the international standards. Their compliance is the first of its kind in the industry. The company has taken exhaustive efforts to ensure that the program safeguards the “delicate landscape, plants, and wildlife,” with their botanical harvesting practices.

(4) The Baby Wipes!! We’ll get to this later.

A Safe Dive into the Ingredient Details of Seedlings

In order to give you an idea of the purity and safety of the Seedlings line, I focused on two products: Seedlings Baby Lotion and Seedlings Baby Wipes. For this blog, we’ll start with the lotion.

Seedlings Baby Lotion, Calm

This beautiful baby cream is 100 percent naturally derived and contains no alcohol, parabens, synthetic fragrances, or artificial dyes. It contains a “Lavender-infused essential oil blend to soothe your baby with a light, calming scent and no unwanted ingredients.”

The Calm Blend of essential oils nurtures babies’ skin and bodies and softens overwhelmed nervous systems. (You can learn more details on the essential oils here.)

All of the emulsifiers and conditioners are rated as low concern in the EWG Skin Deep grading system. Furthermore, many are wellness enhancing, as listed below.

1. Xanthan gum may support healthy blood sugar balance, has been used for healthy bowel movements (if taken orally at more than 15g/day), and has displayed positive metabolic effects. It is used as a safe emulsifier and binding agent, and, according to Dr. Axe:

In spite of only being linked to a few health benefits, xanthan gum has been marketed as a “healthy” alternative to gluten as a binding agent in baking. Bob’s Red Mill, arguably the largest manufacturer of gluten-free flour and baked good mixes in the world, even refers to xanthan gum as a “plant-based thickening and stabilizing agent”…

2. Murumuru butter is a popular ingredient in organic skin care lines. It is a wholesome moisturizer and promotes healthy hair.

3. Mango seed has many valuable effects that have been studied. These include:

  • supporting healthy immune and musculoskeletal systems
  • helping to balance normal blood sugar levels
  • preventing bad microbial takeover
  • calming muscle spasms
  • easing “disaster pants”
  • beneficial skin properties.

4. Calendula has been used for medicinal purposes as far back as the 12th century. The University of Maryland Medical Center states the following on all of its healing properties:

Calendula has high amounts of flavonoids, plant-based antioxidants that protect cells from being damaged by unstable molecules called free radicals. Calendula appears to fight inflammation, viruses, and bacteria…

Calendula has been shown to help wounds heal faster, possibly by increasing blood flow and oxygen to the affected area, which helps the body grow new tissue. It is also used to improve skin hydration and firmness. The dried petals of the calendula plant are used in tinctures, ointments, and washes to treat burns, bruises, and cuts, as well as the minor infections they cause. Calendula also has been shown to help prevent dermatitis or skin inflammation in people with breast cancer during radiation therapy.

Specifically, for babies, they state, “Calendula is also a safe and effective remedy for diaper rash.”

5. Other safe, even edible ingredients, that have a long history for aiding skin includes: cocoa butter and safflower oil.

I hope I’ve displayed, with just one product, the absolute genius in applying the science of protecting our children as they grow up to be strong, healthy, seeds of change for a better world!

In the next blog, I’ll reveal the reason the baby wipes are an essential part of my excitement about seedlings!
