In a global essential oils gathering, essential oil lovers were excited to be honoring and sharing our journeys together on how our precious essential oils have transformed our health and lives for the better. Across the globe  participants were experiencing joyful learning, exciting raffles, and gathering of friends.

I was blessed to be at Terry Quigley’s rally as the keynote speaker for my talk, “The Chemistry & (Holistic) Actions of Essential Oils: A Naturopathic ’s Doctor View.” (As serendipity would have it, it was also Naturopathic Medicine Week!)

As coordinator, Terry’s true passion was inspiring and her authenticity and background as an educator invited everyone to be a part of this event with ease. She accomplished a sense of a group cohesiveness that can only be experienced rather than explained. Tears were shed during Terry’s personal story of following her “knowing” that essential oils could transform her health and her family’s, even in the midst of naysayers and “snake-oil-name-calling” trolls and friends!

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when fellow presenter, Kate, shared her journey to breathing more freely and without fear as she learned to support her respiratory system with essential oils. Jeffrey provided a male perspective of the benefits of essential oils for men, a much-appreciated inclusion. Finally, Anna stole our hearts with her sharing of her everyday oils uses from a kid’s perspective. Anna believes “all children should have blends for owies.”  Anna was our youngest presenter at 8 years old.

Maureen;s talk also focused on how essential oils supported her family’s health. She touched many hearts when she further shared how essential oils were instrumental in transforming her life of advocacy for her physically challenged son.

Yoga instructor, Marchell  got us up and moving as we also de-stressed and re-centered. She generously shared her wisdom and her oils as she explained how the benefits of yoga (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) and mindfulness (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) could be enhanced with some of our favorite therapeutic scents. We all inhaled deeply with appreciation as we bended forward and backward to the smell of the sacred essential oil of frankincense and the mood-uplifting citrus oils.

I presented on the following topics:

  • What are essential oils?
  • Properties and actions of essential oils
  • The metabolic and microbiome effects of essential oils
  • The far-reaching and holistic aspects of essential oils synergism

Here are some slide excerpts:

My favorite part of sharing was explaining some of the “sleeper studies” on how essential oils differentially modulate our metabolic needs as they also positively impact our microbiome.  (Speaking of the microbiome, I just wrote an updated blog on the microbiome and gluten here.

This slide explains how essential oils’ “innate wisdom” allows us to use them and they go where they need to go to heal.

We had a blast and want to thank everyone who attended in person and in spirit!

Each of you contributed with your presence to make this event a successful celebration.
